About us

The Master's Degree in Elementary Education at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) is a postgraduate program designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of educators, researchers, and policymakers in the field of elementary education. The program focuses on advanced pedagogical theories, curriculum development, inclusive education, and educational research both in the global and local contexts to improve the quality of elementary education in Indonesia. This program is suitable for teachers, educational consultants, and professionals looking to advance their expertise in elementary education. This program has been accredited as UNGGUL “OUTSTANDING” by LAMDIK (National Accreditation Board).

The Competition

The International Academic Writing Competition organized by Master's Degree in Elementary Education at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) in collaboration with respected academic institutions  Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED), Universitas Riau (UNRI), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM), Bina Nusantara University (BINUS), Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII), and Alpha-I is a global event that encourages students, researchers, and academics from around the world to showcase their writing skills on various emerging topics. Participants are challenged to submit their well-researched, originally academic articles or papers that demonstrate critical thinking, clear argumentation, and a deep understanding of the chosen subject. The competition spans multiple categories and themes, allowing a diverse range of participants to engage in scholarly discussion and demonstrate their academic prowess. Prizes and recognition are awarded to the top entries, offering a platform for emerging scholars to gain exposure and contribute to the academic community.

This competition is motivated by the rapid development of information technology that has created a world that is increasingly connected globally. In addition, various issues in the world of education encourage the expression of ideas and solutions to various problems. This can be expressed through writing in the form of articles.

Submission Guideline

All submissions must comply with the following guidelines, as specified in the submission requirements below: 

1. Articles may be authored by an individual or a group of up to three authors. 

2. Each author is allowed to submit multiple articles. 

### Topics: 

Submitted articles should focus on one of the following subject areas: 

  1. Generative AI in the classroom
  2. Human-centric skills in curriculum development
  3. Equity in Education
  4. Humanizing Education
  5. Education for Sustainable Development
  6. Glocal context in education
  7. Praxis of teaching and learning in education
  8. Policy in education
  9. Cultural studies in education
  10. Reflexivity on individual narratives

 

### Length: 

Articles should be between 6,000-10,000 words, excluding diagrams, data tables, and the authorship declaration. 

 

### Writing Structure: 

A suggested structure includes an introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion. However, alternative formats are also acceptable. 

### Writing Style: 

Submissions must be well-researched, well-informed, and written in academic styles. The competition does not accept opinion pieces or editorials. Additionally, all submissions must be culturally sensitive, fact-checked, and respectful.

### Citation and Sources: 

All factual statements must be supported by citations from reliable sources, and any ideas that are not the author's own must be properly attributed. References should be managed using a citation tool such as Mendeley or EndNote.

1st April : Submission deadline

2nd -28 April : Selection

30th April : Finalist Announcement

5th May : Technical meeting for finalist

12th May : Final round presentation and winner announcement

*Please note that contestants are requested to register and pay before becoming eligible to submit their articles prior to the submission deadline. 

Indonesian Participants: IDR 200.000/ 1 article 

International Participants: USD 15.00/ 1 article

Competition Prizes

All submissions will receive a certificate of appreciation as a participant from the competition. The paper gets feedbacks from international reviewers. Opportunity for co-authorship with selected judges according to the topic after the competition. Opportunity to publish in international journals provided.

Finalists will be eligible for the following medals based on their preliminary grade and performance in the final round.

Total prize is USD 1500.00

All grading and prize decisions are final.
